TriSports.com Acquires TRIFEST Events

Tucson, AZ October 1, 2009:  TriSports.com has announced its acquisition of TRIFEST Events.  TRIFEST began in 2007 as the North American kick-off to the multisport season and combined an educational conference, a consumer expo, and had affiliated training camps offered by some of the top multisport coaches in the country and a number of free group rides and runs.  TriSports.com, a Tucson based retailer, has historically been the Presenting Sponsor of the event and was very involved in the planning and execution of the event. “Acquiring the company simply made sense,” said TriSports.com VP Debbie Claggett.  “We were already so involved in the event and everyone had the perception that it was our event no matter how hard we tried to explain the separation, so it truly is now a TriSports.com event.”  The 2010 event will turn into a month-long event with in-store demos, clinics and special events designed to really help athletes kick-off their season.  There are currently numerous affiliated camps for the 2010 event including Carmichael Training Systems, Cliff English Coaching, Grasky Endurance, Full Spectrum Sports, Gorilla MultiSport and Coach Troy.  There will still be an opportunity for coaches and ACSM members to earn Continuing Education Units, though specific details will be announced at a later date.

Mental Strategies – "Mental Skills Training for Endurance Athletes and Coaches", Marc Strickland
11:00am March 7th

Abstract
Triathlon is made of three unique disciplines, which include swimming, biking, and running. Most triathletes spend a significant amount of time physically training so that the body is prepared to meet the demands of the sport. However, all too often these same athletes spend little or no time mentally training to prepare themselves for the psychological or emotional difficulties of the sport. Furthermore, most of the critical errors that these same athletes make are due to mental lapses during a race, which cost them valuable amounts of time. This presentation is geared towards helping triathletes (from professional through age-group) to understand how to use mental training strategies during the base, build, and taper phases of training. Topics that will be discussed include goal setting, arousal regulation, and anxiety management to name a few.

Biography
Marc Strickland, Psy.D. is a Sport Psychologist providing performance enhancement services to a variety of teams and athletes. He currently works with professional, amateur, and high school athletes to reach their Optimal Sport Performance.
